(Albuquerque) Albuquerque Police arrested the Honorable W. John Brennan after the state district court judge allegedly tried to elude officers at a DWI checkpoint early this morning.
APD says it stopped Brennan after he pulled into a parking lot near the checkpoint at Menaul and University around 12:30 this morning.
Police say the judge appeared intoxicated. Investigators say they found cocaine.
Judge Brennan presided over Linda Henning’s murder trial in October 2002.
He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. Police say a charge of DWI may be added.
Brennan and a passenger, Patricia Mattioli (age unknown), were both booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center. Brennan was released on his own recognisance this morning.
Efforts to reach Judge Brennan for comment have, so far, been unsuccessful.
