Dear Visitor,
On November 8, 2005, I received an e-mail from Mr. Ted Van Zyl. He had recently learned that a kind woman he had met 14 years earlier had, in fact, been murdered. The woman was Girly Chew Hossencofft. Mr. Van Zyl learned about Girly’s death after Girly’s murder had been featured on a repeated episode of A&E’s American Justice.
Mr. Van Zyl’s e-mail included the following words:
I just learned of Girly’s murder. I’m devastated to hear what happened to her. I meet (sic) her in Malaysia October 1991. She was a wonderful friend to me.
Girly was truly a very thoughtful and special woman. A heart of gold. Girly had already meet MR. Hossencofft and told me about him. She was in love and there was no room for another man in her heart. However that did not stop her from giving a helping hand to me in distress. She really lifted my spirits when I needed it.
Mr. Van Zyl explained that he had several photographs of Girly that were originally taken during his visit with her in Malaysia. He has graciously agreed to allow me to publish those photographs on this Web site.
It is my hope that you will appreciate these pictures. Once again, they–and the story behind them–offer further evidence that Girly Chew was, indeed, a wonderful human being.
Sincerely,
Mark A. Horner
